History/Overview
Since 2016, the Mazda CX-3 has served as the brand’s smallest and least-expensive offering, a subcompact crossover based on a Mazda2 small car sold in other markets. Since then, it has been joined by the larger CX-30, which is also a subcompact but positioned to attract buyers seeking a more upscale feel.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Mazda CX-3 gains a couple of new standard features, which we’ve detailed below.
Available Trims
Mazda offers the CX-3 in GX, GS, and GT trim levels. All three use a 2.0L four-cylinder engine, which comes with front-wheel drive in GX with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. GS and GT come standard with AWD and the automatic.
Standard Features
New to the GX model this year are rain-sensing wipers and auto on/off headlights. They join features carried forward from last year, including 16-inch steel wheels with covers, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, six-speaker stereo, push-button engine start, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and air conditioning.
GS adds heated side mirrors, automatic A/C, alloy wheels, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
GX and GS come with a basic safety suite of city-speed collision mitigation, blind spot monitoring, and a rear cross-traffic warning.
GT gains a sunroof, 18-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights and fog lights, automatic high beams, a front wiper de-icer, seven-speaker stereo, head-up display, navigation, passive keyless entry, an auto-dimming mirror, leather upholstery, power driver’s seat, radar cruise control, all-speed forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.
Key Options
GS trim can be optioned with a luxury package of a sunroof, leatherette upholstery, satin chrome interior trim, adaptive LED headlights, and LED taillights. There’s also a custom appearance package of unique wheels, gloss black exterior trim, suede dash trim, and satin-finish interior elements.
Fuel Economy
Mazda’s fuel consumption estimates for the CX-3 are 8.8/7.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with the manual transmission and FWD, and 8.3/6.9 L/100 km with the automatic. All-wheel drive models are rated for 8.6/7.4 L/100 km.
