Maserati’s Quattroporte has one of the auto industry’s least-creative names – it literally means “four-door” in Italian – but who cares? This beautiful sedan is a bargain next to its primary competitors, which mostly hail from Germany. Price aside, the Quattroporte is a great option if you’re looking for a luxury car that stands out in a class full of vehicles designed to turn heads. Power options are a turbocharged V6 or a V8 with nearly 600 hp.
Issue:
On small number of vehicles, the housing for the fuel line sensor could crack and leak fuel. If this happens, the engine could stall while driving.
Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall No. 2021-687.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
Maserati will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the fuel line sensor housing.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the airbag warning labels are located on the headliner under the sun visors. Canadian regulations require information about the airbag system to be provided on both sides of the sun visor.
Safety Risk:
This small error does not affect safety.
Corrective Actions:
This is not a recall. Maserati has made changes to ensure that all new vehicles have the airbag warning labels installed correctly.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat.
Note: The vehicle's lower universal anchorage system (UAS) is not affected by this defect and may still be used to secure a child seat.
Safety Risk:
A seat belt that is used to secure a child restraint but is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Maserati will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label lists the wrong cold tire pressures for the front and rear tires. The label incorrectly lists the recommended tire pressure as 220 kPa (32 psi) instead of 250 kPa (36 psi). This could lead you to under inflate the tires. Driving a vehicle with underinflated tires could cause poor handling and/or a tire failure.
Note: This recall only affects Trofeo models equipped with optional 21 inch tires.
Safety Risk:
Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and result in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Maserati will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to verify that the tire and loading information label has the correct tire pressures. The label will be replaced, if required. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) will also be updated to the correct pressure, if necessary.
