History/Overview
The Maserati Levante is a mid-size crossover SUV from an Italian carmaker that’s part of the Stellantis conglomerate, which also controls Alfa Romeo and Fiat, along with America’s Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2021, the Levante gets a new infotainment system.
Available Trims
Maserati offers the Levante in base, Granlusso, Gransport, GTS and Trofeo trim levels. The first three come with your choice of two versions of a turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine, with the more potent motor carrying an S designation. GTS and Trofeo build on Gransport trim but trade the V6 for a 3.8L turbo V8, with Trofeo getting a horsepower bonus.
All-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission are both standard across the line.
Standard Features
The Levante’s base trim comes with 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights, adaptive air suspension with electronic damping, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, heated front seats and steering wheel, an 8.4-inch infotainment display with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, blind spot warning, and soft-close doors.
Granlusso trim adds silk-and-leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, open-pore wood trim, a 14-speaker stereo, side skirts and rear spoiler, gloss black brake calipers, and LED matrix headlights.
Gransport gains 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and 12-way power sport front seats.
Key Options
A GT sport package adds larger wheels, different front and rear fascia, and gloss composite trim and red brake calipers. A nerissimo package changes numerous exterior elements to black or very dark grey.
A climate package brings heated rear seats and heated windshield washer nozzles.
Stand-alone options include four-zone A/C, a surround-sound stereo, adjustable pedals, and power rear side sunshades.
Fuel Economy
Maserati’s fuel consumption estimates for the Levante are 15.1/10.9 L/100 km (city/highway) with the V6 engine, and 17.4/12.0 L/100 km in V8-powered versions.
Competition
With the Levante, Maserati competes with the upper echelon of the mid-size luxury SUV market, where you’ll find the BMW X5, Audi Q7/Q8, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Porsche Cayenne.
