History/Overview
Last redesigned in 2018, the Lincoln Navigator is a trendsetter in the full-size luxury SUV class, where it combines truck-like capability with true upscale fit, finish and refinement.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Navigator introduces Lincoln’s ActiveGlide hands-free driving system, which is included as standard equipment and, as of this writing, works on 200,000 km of roads in North America that Lincoln calls “blue zones.”
Available Trims
Lincoln offers the Navigator in a single Reserve trim level, available in standard and Navigator L extended-wheelbase configurations. Performance is from a 3.5L turbo V6 engine, a 10-speed transmission, and standard 4WD.
Standard Features
The Navigator comes with 22-inch wheels, three-zone A/C, real wood interior trim, a heated steering wheel, digital gauges, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals and steering column, a hands-free tailgate, and passive keyless entry. You also get a head-up display, wireless phone charging, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, navigation, a 14-speaker stereo, a panoramic roof, heated/ventilated front and second-row seats, leather upholstery, and adaptive headlights.
Safety-wise, every Navigator has blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, adaptive cruise, park assist, rain-sensing wipers, 360-degree cameras, lane keeping assist, 360-degree parking sensors, Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 2.0, ActiveGlide, automatic high beams, and forward collision warning/mitigation.
Key Options
You can add an upgraded version of the Co-Pilot 360 2.0 suite that assists with towing; also available is reverse braking assist, power-folding rear seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, a heavy-duty tow package, and a limited-slip differential.
Fuel Economy
Lincoln’s fuel consumption estimates for the Navigator are 15.2/10.8 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
With its pickup truck-based underpinnings, the Navigator is a distinctly North American take on a big luxury SUV, and as such, it competes primarily with the Cadillac Escalade. You can also cross-shop the Navi against the Lexus LX and Infiniti QX80. Pricewise, this big Lincoln also lines up against the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and Land Rover Range Rover.
