History/Overview
Like many of its luxury car brand peers, Lincoln has put most of its recent design efforts into SUV and crossover models. The Ford Fusion-based MKZ sedan is hardly trendy, but can be optioned into a serious luxury car. This generation dates back to 2013 and enjoyed a refresh in 2017.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
Lincoln has taken last year's optional 400-hp turbo V6 off the table, leaving a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder as the most potent powertrain. The entry-level Select trim is gone too, so all MKZ models now come in an uplevel Reserve configuration.
Available Trims
The Lincoln MKZ Reserve comes with a choice of that 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine with AWD and a six-speed automatic gearbox, or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission.
Standard Features
Standard safety kit includes a lane keeping system, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active park assist with front sensors, blind spot monitor, backup sensors, forward pedestrian and collision detection with automatic braking, and tire pressure monitoring.
The MKZ's cabin is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, a 110-volt power outlet, ambient lighting, auto-dimming rearview and driver's side mirrors, power-folding side mirrors, automatic high beams, power steering column adjustments, a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, power rear window sunshade, garage door opener, passive keyless entry, push-button transmission controls, power trunklid, rain-sensing wipers, two rear seat USB ports, 14-speaker Revel sound system with satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, 10-way power multicontour front seats with ventilation, active motion and four-way lumbar, Bridge of Weir leather upholstery and heated rear seats.
Exterior and mechanical features comprise adaptive suspension, 19-inch wheels, adaptive HID headlights with LED signature lighting, LED taillights, sunroof, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
The 2.0L turbo AWD variant adds a 10.1-inch digital gauge cluster display.
Key Options
Optional features for gas-powered AWD cars include dynamic torque vectoring and a sport-tuned suspension.
Other available extras are a 20-speaker stereo, adaptive LED headlights, and a panoramic vista sunroof.
Fuel Economy
Lincoln's fuel consumption estimates for the MKZ are 12.1/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway) for the 2.0L turbo AWD powertrain, and 5.5/5.7 for the MKZ Hybrid.
Competition
The Lincoln MKZ goes up against cars like the Lexus ES, Acura TLX, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Volvo S90, Cadillac CTS/CT6, Volkswagen Arteon, Buick LaCrosse and the Kia Cadenza.
