A complete redesign brings more power and new technology to Lincoln's Canadian-built mid-range MKX crossover for 2016.
In addition to new styling, the MKX gains an available 2.7L "EcoBoost" turbocharged V6 engine, and a brand-first pre-collision assist system with pedestrian detection.
That engine is particularly notable for its 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, both of which are big figures in this class, outside of high-performance models offered by some of Lincoln's European competitors. It joins a 3.7L V6, carried over from last year, that makes 303 hp and 278 lb-ft. Both engines come with standard AWD, and a six-speed automatic transmission.
If the 2.7L engine's output is significant, so are its fuel consumption ratings of 14.1/9.7 (city/highway), which are favourable to the 3.7L's 14.4/10.3.
An MKX with the 3.7L engine is available in Select and Reserve trims. Select models come with remote engine start, dual-zone automatic climate control, intelligent keyless entry with push-button start, instrument cluster with driver-configurable LCD screen, ambient lighting, LED taillights and daytime running lights, hands-free power tailgate, backup parking sensors, power-folding side mirrors, HID headlights, SYNC 3 infotainment system, 10-speaker stereo, power-adjustable steering column, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 10-way power front seats, Bridge of Weir leather upholstery, active noise control, backup camera, 18-inch wheels, hill-start assist, and Lincoln Drive Control.
The Reserve package -- optional with the 3.7L V6 and standard with the 2.7L -- adds 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, blind spot information system, navigation, automatic high beams, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, and rain-sensing wipers.
MSRPs start at $46,250 with the 3.7L V6 and $54,300 with the 2.7L.
