All new for 2007, the Lincoln MKX (pronounce each letter: "M-K-X") is the company’s first “crossover” vehicle. It shares its platform with the equally new Ford Edge; both models will be built in the company’s Oakville, Ontario assembly plant.
The five-passenger MKX uses a 3.5-litre Duratec V6 engine with six-speed transmission and fully independent suspension. Front- or all-wheel drive models are available.
Standard features include 18-inch aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, Advance Trac stability control with roll stability control, side and curtain airbags, perimeter theft alarm, tire pressure monitoring system, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-CD/MP3 stereo with six speakers, cargo management system, fog lamps, message centre, leather interior, heated and cooled 10-way power seats with memory, and 60/40 fold-flat and reclining second-row seats. Removable dividers in the centre console accommodate everything from CDs and handbags to laptop computers; the console also contains an available concealed power point and MP3 audio jack.
Available options include a 14-speaker THX Certified audio system with DVD navigation, panoramic Vista Roof, adaptive headlights and heated rear seats.
