The Lincoln MKT is unchanged this year, with the exception of Sync3 replacing the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system. The three-row Ford Flex based crossover carrys over into 2016 with all-wheel drive and a 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost V6 making 365 hp and rated for 14.6 L/100 km city and 10.4 L/100 km highway. The only transmission is a six-speed automatic.
To keep the ride Lincoln smooth, the MKT has adaptive dampers, which can continuously adjust the suspension stiffness and compliance for comfort or sport, depending on the selected mode. Inside there is an optional cooler for the second row, which comes with a 60/40 split middle row bench for $2,100. That spit bench can be heated and cooled for another $1,200
Standard features on the $50,900 base MKT include three-zone climate control, a 110v ac outlet, ambient lighting, illuminated entry with dimming, keyless entry with push-button start, second-row door sunshades, a power liftgate, power tilt/telescoping steering column, power-adjustable pedals with memory feature, remote start, 12-way powered, heated and cooled front seats, perforated leather-trimmed 1st- and 2nd-row seats, adaptive HID headlights with auto high beams, LED taillights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 19-inch wheels and a rear view camera.
Jumping to the $3,450 Elite package adds navigation with voice control, THX audio, a power folding third row, blind spot alert and a heated steering wheel. The $2,150 driver technology package adds active park assist, adaptive cruise, and lane guidance. A panoramic roof is available on both trims for an additional $1,600.
The MKT is a large vehicle, with actual room for six or seven, depending on options. Cross shop it against the Q7, XC90, or Buick Enclave, and you'll find it to be a lot of luxury and features for a fair bit less money.
