2007 Lincoln Mark LT

For 2007, Lincoln’s Mark LT pickup truck undergoes several changes. The 4x2 base model of 2006 is gone; all Mark LTs are now four-wheel drive. Available only with a 5-foot-5 box in 2006, this crew cab model now also comes with an available 6-foot-5 Styleside box, at no extra charge.

Other changes include a new grille and headlamp design, and chrome surround on the taillamps; new standard equipment includes 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, power sunroof, power sliding rear window, and power folding heated mirrors with chrome caps. A DVD-based navigation radio system is available, and there’s a new interior colour combination of Ebony seats with black piping.

Based on the Ford F-150, the Mark LT uses a 5.4-litre Triton V8 engine with four-speed transmission.

Standard features include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, trailer package, running boards, automatic climate control, power sunroof, eight-way heated leather seats with memory, power-adjustable pedals, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 60/40 folding rear split-bench seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless remote and keypad, Audiophile six-CD/MP3 stereo with seven speakers, automatic headlamps, fog lamps, speed-sensitive wipers, deep-tinted windows and reverse sensing system.

Available options include chrome box rails, DVD navigation system and overhead DVD entertainment system.

Now in its second year, the Mark LT has proven itself with buyers; any parallels between the Mark LT and its ill-conceived Blackwood predecessor are forgotten, especially since the Mark LT has proved itself to be far more practical when buyers need to be able to use it as a truck. For 2007, the Mark LT’s features moves to the top of the rung; although it’s doubtful anyone will take 20-inch chrome wheels on an off-road course, most luxury-vehicle buyers tick all the option boxes, and Lincoln has definitely taken notice, dropping the two-wheel version in favour of power to all four wheels. The price rises a notch over the 4x4 version of 2006, but to the Mark LT’s credit, the longer box is priced the same, and the whole package is still $16,796 under the base price of the Chevrolet Avalanche-based Cadillac Escalade EXT.
