NEW FOR 2015:
- No changes for 2015
If the ultimate luxury is being able to go wherever you want, whenever you want, the Lexus LX 570 very well might be the ultimate luxury vehicle. Cut from the same cloth as the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser, the LX 570 is a traditional SUV. That means you’ll find a rugged ladder frame chassis, a proper transfer case with low-range, and a powerful V8 engine under its skin. It’s also a traditional Lexus, which means a cushy ride, plush cabin, and durability that will last ‘till the end of days.
Last redesigned for model year 2013, the LX wears its Spindle Grille and LED headlamps proudly. Unlike many of its rivals, the LX offers three rows of seating with space for eight, not the usual seven. Whether you’re bounding across the Serengeti or sitting in traffic on Main Street, all will sit in the lap of luxury on comfortable premium leather seats. Being the ultimate Lexus off-roader, the LX boasts 4-Wheel Crawl Control – a sort of cruise control for serious off-road terrain – as well as Terrain Select, which adapts the vehicle to whatever surface you’re on. Active air suspension helps keep things cushy, too.
Despite its upper crust background, the LX’s powertrain is shared with the workmanlike Toyota Tundra – a 5.7-litre V8 that’s good for nearly 400 horsepower. It may not be as quick or as refined as the AMG-ified Benz G-Class or supercharged Range Rover, but the level of thrust the LX provides is ample, and it can tow 7,000 lb. Fuel economy is, as you’d imagine, not its forte.
The LX 570 comes in one trim, which includes everything but the kitchen sink. 20-inch wheels, navigation, around-view camera system, power sliding second-row seats, power folding third-row seats, rear-seat entertainment system with dual wireless headphones, moonroof, premium leather upholstery, radar cruise control with pre-collision warning, Mark Levinson Reference 17-speaker sound system, and more.
