Lexus' flagship sedan returns for 2016 with no changes. As before, it's offered in two wheelbase lengths and with a choice of gasoline and hybrid powertrains.
The LS 460 and LS 460 L share a 4.6L V8 that makes 360 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque, which is put to the road through an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The LS 600 L uses a 5.0L V8 paired with an electric motor to produce 438 hp and more than 400 lb-ft (though Lexus doesn't specify an exact rating).
Fuel consumption ratings are 15.2/10.2 L/100 km for the LS 460, and 12.7/10.1 in the LS 600.
Standard kit includes intelligent keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, sunroof, auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, power trunk and door closers, Alcantara headliner, leather upholstery, front seats with heating and ventilation functions, 16-way power driver's seat and 12-way front passenger seat, heated steering wheel with power tilt-and-telescope function, 19-speaker stereo, navigation, intuitive park assist, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, smart stop technology, tire pressure monitor, steerable LED headlights, and LED daytime running lamps, fog lights and brake lights.
The LS 600 L adds four-zone climate control, massaging rear outboard seats, power rear door sunshades, rear cool box, rear outboard butterfly headrests, advanced pre-collision system, pedestrian detection system, lane keep assist, driver attention monitor, intelligent high-beam headlights, dynamic radar cruise control, and power-adjustable outboard rear seats.
The short-wheelbase LS 460 can be optioned with a choice of Technology or F Sport packages.
Prices range from $93,050 to $147,900.
