The Lexus IS is the Japanese brand's weapon for taking on compact sport sedan heavyweights from Germany. It acquits itself nicely with quick power and sharp handling, though its road feel is a degree or two removed from the best that Europe has to offer. Whatever your thoughts on that, there's something to be said for a nicely finished entry-lux car that can also boast good value and Toyota-level reliability.
