The Lexus GX is a mid-size luxury SUV that offers the brand’s buyers some off-road prowess in addition to the level of comfort they expect from this high-end Japanese brand. This generation of the three-row GX has been around since 2010 and received its most recent styling update in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Lexus GX gets an updated infotainment system, a new Signature option package, and a Black Line Special Edition package.
Available Trims
Lexus offers the GX in base, Black Line Special Edition, Premium, and Executive trim levels. In all versions, power is from a 4.6L V8 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive.
Standard Features
Base GX models come with nine-speaker audio, a 10.3-inch infotainment screen, power front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, NuLuxe upholstery, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel with wood and leather trim, power steering wheel adjustments, and three-zone A/C.
Outside, there are LED headlights with washers, LED taillights, a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers with de-icer, 18-inch wheels, and auto-dimming side mirrors.
Also included is a safety suite comprising blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking assist, forward collision mitigation, automatic high beams, radar cruise control, and lane departure alert.
The Black Line Edition adds black wheels, special upholstery, and black exterior trim.
Premium trim gains a multi-terrain view camera, panoramic view monitor, power-folding third-row seats, and a surround-sound stereo.
Executive trim brings 19-inch wheels, a transmission fluid cooler, and a refrigerated front console box.

Lexus’s fuel consumption estimates for the GX are 16.2/12.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
There aren’t many other luxury SUVs this focused on off-road performance. Shop the GX against the Land Rover Discovery, Land Rover Defender, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
