For 2008, the Land Rover LR3 is unchanged but for trim items.
The LR3 is available as the V6 with Ford-sourced 4.0-litre V6, and as the V8 with Jaguar-sourced 4.4-litre V8. All models use a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, and feature permanent four-wheel drive, four-corner height-adjustable air suspension, and electronically-controlled locking centre differential. All contain Terrain Response, with five driver-selectable settings for general driving, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand and rock crawl. All can be optioned to three rows of seats.
Features on the V6 SE include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, power sunroof, cargo cover, eight-way power leather seats, heated first- and second-row seats, heated windshield, heated washer jets, six-CD/MP3 Harman/Kardon Logic7 stereo with auxiliary jack, keyless entry, heated mirrors, rear fog lights, and privacy glass.
The V8 SE adds rear park distance control and front fog lamps.
The V8 HSE adds 19-inch alloy wheels, DVD-based navigation system with off-road capability, driver's position memory, electric steering column, Bluetooth hands-free telephone integration, bi-Xenon headlamps, and premium In Car Entertainment stereo system.
Previously Land Rover's entry-level offering, the LR3 is now positioned above the all-new LR2, introduced for 2008. While the midsize SUV segment is a crowded one, the LR3 enjoys a niche within it, with rugged off-road ability, smooth on-road manners, and top-end luxury.
