NEW FOR 2014:
- Redesigned infotainment system
- Meridian Sound System Upgrade now available as a standalone option
After a year on the market, the updated LR2 receives a few minor tweaks to improve its infotainment system. The screen now uses smartphone-style capacitive touch display that improves responsiveness. New menu designs including a QWERTY keyboard and added satellite radio functionality are also included. While a Meridian branded audio system is included as standard on all LR2s, a premium 825-watt version with 16 speakers is a standalone option on all models.
Designed at a time when Land Rover was still owned by Ford, the entry-level LR2 uses an off-road optimized architecture that’s shared with Volvos and European Fords. Compared to some of its newer rivals, the LR2 has a slightly old-school feel – while comfortable, it has a lot of body roll and the steering is light. Last year’s update saw the LR2 receive a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine from the Range Rover Evoque which develops 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. It uses a six-speed automatic and comes standard with a Haldex-designed all-wheel drive and Land Rover’s Terrain Response system.
Trims include LR2, LR2 SE, and LR2 HSE.
LR2 standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, 11-speaker Meridian AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio with auxiliary/USB input, skid plates, proximity key with push button start, Bluetooth, cruise control, tire-pressure monitor, external temperature gauge, power glass sunroof and fixed panoramic sunroof, 7.0-inch multifunction screen, trip computer, LED taillights, automatic headlights, anti-theft protection, engine immobilizer, leather seating, leather wrapped steering wheel with tilt/telescopic adjustment, Terrain Response full and part-time 4WD, automatic dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and heated power mirrors.
LR2 SE adds 18-inch wheels, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated windscreen with heated washer jets, roof spoiler, Park Distance Control, high-pressure headlight cleaners, body-colour door sills, body-colour rear bumper, rear privacy glass, and fog lights.
LR2 HSE adds bi-xenon headlights, directional headlight control, front footwell lights, driver’s seat memory, power adjustable heated mirrors with memory function and auto-dipping in reverse gear, and garage door opener.
The HSE LUX package adds premium leather upholstery, eight-way power driver’s seat, six-way power passenger’s seat, and premium floor mats.
