History/Overview
Since 2015, the Land Rover Discovery Sport has placed three-row practicality and upscale trimmings within reach of buyers looking to break into the luxury SUV segment. This is one of the brand’s least expensive models, and certainly its most affordable seven-seater.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The Disco Sport’s sole change is the addition of Amazon Alexa functionality to its infotainment system.
Available Trims
Land Rover offers the Disco Sport in R-Dynamic S, SE, R-Dynamic SE, and R-Dynamic HSE trim levels. All are powered by a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed transmission, and four-wheel drive.
Standard Features
R-Dynamic S models come with auto on/off headlights, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, heated/power-adjustable front seats, “duoleather” upholstery, and power-folding side mirrors with driver’s side auto dimming. Also included are dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, a power tailgate, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Standard safety features include forward collision mitigation, lane keep assist, a driver condition monitor, front and rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
SE trim adds auto-levelling headlights with automatic high beams, a Meridian stereo, 20-inch wheels, digital gauges, and blind spot monitoring. R-Dynamic SE is similarly equipped but gets black exterior styling elements to set it apart.
Finally, R-Dynamic HSE trim brings upgraded front seats, Windsor leather upholstery, and a surround-sound stereo.
Key Options
A family package adds third-row seating, a fixed panoramic roof, digital rearview mirror, a cargo net, and third-row A/C vents. In SE models, you can get the third row as a stand-alone option that includes rear A/C vents and sliding/reclining second-row seats.
The convenience package brings a cargo net, an activity key, and electric steering wheel adjustments.
A premium upgrade interior package gains premium floor mats, lighted door sills, and upgraded cabin lighting and steering wheel trim.
Fuel Economy
Land Rover estimates the Disco Sport’s fuel consumption at 12.7/10.0 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Its compact size and affordable price mean the Discovery Sport competes with a wide range of upscale crossovers, including the Jaguar E-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan, Buick Envision, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Acura RDX, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, Lincoln Corsair, Cadillac XT5, and Infiniti QX50.
