History / Overview
Kia introduced the Stinger sport sedan in 2018 as its flagship model. It quickly gained a reputation for offering performance well beyond its relatively modest price point.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, Kia Canada has dropped the entry-level 2.0L turbo engine it introduced to the Stinger last year, along with the GT-Line trim level it was used in.
Available Trims
The Stinger comes in GT and GT Limited trims, both powered by a 3.3L turbocharged V6 engine, which comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD.
Standard Features
On the outside, GT trim comes with 19-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, positioning lights and taillights, welcome lighting, a sunroof, and heated/auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors.
The cabin is fitted with leather upholstery, 12-way power front seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 9-speaker stereo with 7.0-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, wireless smartphone charging, passive keyless entry, a power tailgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and LED interior lighting.
Standard safety features include tire pressure monitoring, blind spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and rear cross traffic alert.
GT Limited adds adaptive headlights, rain-sensing wipers, Nappa leather upholstery, power-adjustable driver's seat cushion extension and side bolsters, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, aluminum interior trim, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with navigation, a 15-speaker stereo, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a garage door opener, lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance assist, and 360-degree exterior camera views.
Fuel Economy
Kia's fuel consumption estimates for the Stinger are 13.6/9.6 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Kia Stinger competes almost exclusively with pricier cars from upscale brands, including the Audi A5 Sportback, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, and Mercedes-Benz's C-Class. Kia also competes with the Genesis G70, with which it shares its platform.
