NEW FOR 2011:
- All-new model
Temporarily discontinued for 2010, the Kia Sorento returns for 2011 as an all-new model. Previously a body-on-frame SUV, it is now a unibody, and is longer and wider than the 2009 model it replaces. It’s also the first Kia built in North America, in a plant in Georgia.
The Sorento is available with a choice of two engines: a 2.4-litre four-cylinder in the LX and EX, and 3.5-litre V6 in the LX-V6, EX-V6 and EX-V6 Luxury. The four-cylinder comes with a six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, while the V6 comes strictly with the six-speed automatic. All but the LX with manual transmission can be optioned with all-wheel drive.
All models come with two rows of seats for five-passenger seating, but the LX-V6 and EX-V6 Luxury can be optioned with a third row of seats for a total of seven passengers.
Features on the LX include 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, downhill assist control, hill ascent control, fog lights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, deep-tint privacy glass, solar control windshield, front and rear mud guards, heated cloth seats, six-way manual driver’s seat, 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, power locks with keyless entry, cruise control, express-down driver’s window, CD/MP3 stereo with Sirius satellite radio and USB port, iPod cable, Bluetooth connectivity, tilt and telescopic steering column, trip computer, vanity mirrors, locking glovebox, rear cargo under-floor storage, active front head restraints, variable intermittent wipers, windshield wiper de-icer, and rear window wiper.
The LX with automatic transmission adds roof rails, Eco-Minder indicator, illuminated vanity mirrors with covers, and rear parking sonar.
The EX adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, roof rails, heated leather seats, eight-way power driver’s seat, deluxe door scuff, Smart Key pushbutton start, Eco-Minder indicator, leather-wrapped steering wheel, illuminated vanity mirrors with covers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cargo cover, luggage net, and rearview camera.
The LX-V6 is equipped similarly to the LX with automatic transmission, but adds Smart Key pushbutton start and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The EX-V6 is equipped similarly to the EX.
The EX-V6 Luxury adds a power tilt and sliding panoramic sunroof, rear spoiler, mood lighting, premium ten-speaker stereo system, and navigation system.
