Kia's compact sedan moves into 2016 with minor trim changes. The LX+ AT model loses its side mirror turn signal repeaters, rear cooling vents and sliding front armrest, leaving the EX MT model the lowest trim to come with those items. Then, the EX MT loses last year's power-folding side mirrors, so that SX AT trim is the starting point for that feature.
The rest of the package is the same. The LX model uses a 1.8L four-cylinder engine (145 hp/130 lb-ft of torque), and EX and SX models get a 2.0L that makes 173 hp and 154 lb-ft. Both engines can be mated to six-speed manual or automatic transmission, but their availability depends on which trim you choose.
Fuel consumption estimates for 1.8L cars are 9.3/6.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with the manual transmission, and 8.9/6.1 with the automatic. 2.0L models are rated 9.8/6.9 L/100 km with the stickshift, and 9.7/6.7 figures apply to the automatic.
Standard features in the LX MT model include 15-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, electric power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, tilt-and-telescopic steering, trip computer, cloth seats, power locks, windows and side mirrors, heated side mirrors, and a four-speaker stereo with USB input and Bluetooth.
LX AT trim adds the automatic transmission, air conditioning and keyless entry.
LX+ AT gets heated front seats, 16-alloy wheels, heated windshield wiper de-icer, fog lights and a six-speaker stereo. This model can be optioned with a sunroof.
EX MT gets the bigger engine, 17-inch wheels, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shifter, flex steer, auto-dimming rearview mirror, backup camera, UVO infotainment system, automatic headlights, front centre sliding armrest and rear-seat cooling vents.
EX AT adds the automatic transmission; a sunroof is optional here.
Finally, the SX model gets LED taillights, xenon headlights, welcome lighting, leather seats, ventilated driver's seat, heated rear seats, power driver's seat with lumbar and memory, navigation, push-button start, intelligent keyless entry, heated steering wheel, shift paddles, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-folding side mirrors, and an upgraded gauge cluster.
Prices range from the LX MT's $15,995 to the SX AT's $26,695 MSRP.
