For 2011, the Kia Borrego undergoes trim changes. A driver’s knee airbag, previously available only on V8 models, is now standard on all vehicles, along with chrome door handles, an auto up/down driver’s window, and turn signals in the mirrors.
Known as the Mohave in some global markets, the Borrego is a body-on-frame vehicle. It uses a 3.8-litre V6 with five-speed automatic or 4.6-litre V8 with six-speed automatic. LX models use a part-time, manually-activated four-wheel drive system; EX models use a Borg Warner full-time torque-on-demand four-wheel drive system that detects road conditions and distributes torque when needed.
Features on the LX V6 include 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, roof rails, privacy glass, two-tone bumpers with body side cladding, integrated trailer hitch, dual skid plates, driver’s auto up/down window, heated cloth seats, six-way manual driver’s seat, 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, 50/50 split-folding third-row seats, driver’s knee airbag, chrome interior accents, tilt steering wheel with audio controls, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and USB port, Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry, illuminated vanity mirrors, cruise control, rear cargo under-floor storage compartments, locking glovebox, back-up warning system, and Eco-Minder indicator.
The EX V6 adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way driver and four-way passenger power heated leather seats, driver’s side memory, premium door scuff panels, auto-dimming rear-view mirror compass, leather-wrapped power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, metal grain interior accents, power sunroof, integrated side step, rear chrome garnish, and fog lights.
The LX V8 is equipped similarly to the LX V6.
The EX V8 is equipped similarly to the EX V6, but adds Smart Key system with pushbutton start.
Both LX models can be optioned with a navigation system.
