Oz1963 Weak engine June 18, 2021 Sahara
Overall Score
With less than 200,000 km the right side of the engine loss compression to 10%, while the left side maintained 90%. I have had engines treated way worst that have endured beyond 300,000km without this type of issues. Huge disappointment on an engine thought to be tough, especially since I have owned it from new. Now I have to replace the engine and see what salvage value to obtain from it. Stay away from Jeep!!!

Issue: On certain vehicles, the wrong dash wiring harness may have been installed during production. As a result, the trailer lights may not work. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with the trailer tow option. Safety Risk: Trailer lights that don't work could make the trailer less visible and cause following drivers not to recognize that the vehicle is braking or intends to turn or change lanes. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the dash wiring harness.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an FCA dealer during recall B9A (Transport Canada recall no. 2023-627) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery that can cause a fire, even while parked with the ignition off. Note: This recall only affects 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2023-627. Safety Risk: The vehicle could catch fire, even while parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, FCA advises not to charge your vehicle, and to park it outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the high-voltage battery pack software. If necessary, the battery pack will be replaced.

Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the wiring harness for the rearview camera and the high-mounted stop lamp may not have been installed properly during production. As a result, the wiring could become damaged and short circuit. If this happens, the rearview camera image may not display and/or the high-mounted stop lamp may not work. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. A stop lamp that doesn't work may cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: An FCA dealer has already repaired the affected vehicles by replacing the wiring harness and/or the spare tire carrier assembly.

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

Certain vehicles which are subjected to dusty environments and/or extensive usage with top/doors removed, the clockspring assembly for the driver's airbag may become damaged and fail due to dust ingress. This could compromise the airbag circuit, which would result in the illumination of the airbag warning lamp and possible non-deployment of the driver's frontal airbag during a crash where deployment is warranted, which could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud with a design that will further reduce the amount of dirt/dust intrusion.

On certain vehicles, the power steering return line may wear against the automatic transmission oil cooler line, causing a transmission fluid leak. This would result in a loss of transmission fluid, potentially causing damage to the transmission and resulting in a loss of motive power. This could increase the risk of a crash causing personal injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will either add a protective sleeve or replace the transmission line.

On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the exhaust system is located too close to the transmission skid plate. Debris collecting in this area could contact the exhaust catalyst, which could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the transmission skid plate with a skid bar.

On certain vehicles, fastener torque for various front and rear axle attachments may degrade over time, due to variability in the axle painting process. This could result in noise or cause a degradation in steering and handling characteristics. A loss of vehicle control could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will re-torque nineteen fasteners to specifications.

On certain vehicles, the right and left front inner fender liners could contact the right front and left rear brake tubes respectively, which could cause a partial loss of braking at the affected wheel. A partial loss of braking could result in a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will trim the front inner fender liners and replace the retaining fasteners. In addition, the right front and left rear brake tubes will be inspected and brake tubes found to have the corrosion protection coating compromised will be replaced.

On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, operating under rigorous off-road conditions could cause the transmission fluid temperature to elevate to the point of causing transmission failure. Should the transmission fluid boil over, it may come into contact with a hot engine or exhaust component and cause a fire which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a "HOTOIL" message in the instrument cluster and a chime to indicate elevated transmission fluid temperature.
