History/Overview
Jeep’s entry-level offering is the Renegade, a vehicle that joined the range in 2015 riding on a platform shared with the Fiat 500X. Despite its small size and relatively affordable price, the Renegade promises better-than-average off-road capability to help it live up to its maker’s reputation.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2023, Jeep adds new Trailhawk Elite and Upland Edition option packages, the details of which we list below.
Available Trims
Jeep offers the Renegade in North and Trailhawk trim levels. Both are powered by a 1.3L turbo four-cylinder engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
North trim comes with auto on/off headlights, heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers with de-icer, and passive keyless entry. Inside, there’s dual-zone A/C, an auto-dimming mirror, heated front seats/steering wheel, six-speaker audio, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and navigation. Standard safety kit includes forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.
Trailhawk trim adds low-range gearing, a 7.0-inch digital gauge display, and hill descent control.
Key Options
The new Trailhawk Elite group adds leather seats with driver power adjustments and LED headlights/taillights/fog lights.
The new Upland pack for North trim brings unique front and rear fascia, fog lights, black exterior trim, auto on/off headlights, all-terrain tires, 7.0-inch digital gauge display, topographic cloth upholstery, and a techno-leather steering wheel.
An Altitude package for North models adds 18-inch wheels, leather seats with driver power adjustments, and gloss black trim.
Finally, a sun-and-sound group adds a panoramic roof and an upgraded stereo.
Fuel Economy
Jeep’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.1/8.1 L/100 km (city/highway) for Renegade’s North trim, and 10.8/8.7 L/100 km in Trailhawk form.
