History/Overview
The Renegade launched in 2015 and became the smallest Jeep on the market. The subcompact was one of the first in a growing segment. While it might look like just half a Jeep, it is surprisingly capable off road with all-wheel drive offered and the ability to get one that has earned a Trail Rated badge for hitting the dirt and rocks.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2021, Jeep has added loads of content to the Sport model including alloys heated seats, and a new infotainment system. North gets heated seats and wheel, Trailhawk adds a new Elite leather seating group, and Altitude adds black accents.
The Upland, Limited, and High Altitude trims have been dropped.
An 80th Anniversary edition will be offered, as will be a new Jeepster and Islander.
Available Trims
Renegade is offered in Sport, North, and Trailhawk. Sport and North come standard with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine. Standard in Trailhawk and Limited is a a 1.3L turbo four-cylinder. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board, and all trims but Sport are standard with 4WD.
Special Edition trims include Altitude, Jeepster, Islander, and 80th Anniversary.
Standard Features
Renegade Sport comes with 16-inch alloys, black grille with chrome trim, and black door handles. It has a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, six-speaker audio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. The driver seat is six-way manual adjust and four-way for passenger.
North trim adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, body-colour door handles, fog lights, satellite radio, leather-trimmed steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, rear tinted glass, a heated wheel, and remote start.
Trailhawk is an off-road trim, adding off-road tires, fuel tank and transfer case skid plates, a rear tow hook, hill descent control, rain-sensing wipers, a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster display, premium cloth upholstery, a 115-volt power outlet and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It has power-adjust driver seat and manual passenger seat.
Altitude adds gloss black wheels and badges to North along with leather seats (power-adjust for driver), 8.4-inch infotainment with navigation, and 7.0-inch colour dash display.
Jeepster adds 19-inch alloys to Sport along with deep-tint glass, black cloth seating, and keyless entry. Islander adds 19-inch silver wheels to North and has silver badges, dual-pane power roof, Tiki Bob badging, and black seas with ombre and Surf Blue accents.
The 80th Anniversary offers special badges, 19-inch wheels, and Berber floor mats as well as navigation.
Key Options
Trailhawk can be fitted with an Elite package that adds black leather seats, LED projector headlights, navigation, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring.
Fuel Economy
Jeep's fuel consumption estimates for the Renegade are 10.8/7.8 for the 2.4L engine and front-wheel drive; 11.2/8.2 with the 2.4L and 4WD; and 10.8/8.7 for the Trailhawk's 1.3L/4WD combination.
Competition
Jeep competes with popular small crossovers like the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, Nissan Qashqai, Chevrolet Trax, Ford EcoSport, Mazda CX-3, Mini Countryman, Mitsubishi RVR, and Subaru Crosstrek. Front-drive models also compete with the Hyundai Venue and Nissan Kicks.
