Thanks to the marriage between Italian Fiat and American Chrysler, the Jeep Renegade wears the brand's patriotic seven-slot grille on an Italian-engineered architecture. It will be followed soon by the Fiat 500X, utilizing the same platform, engine, and transmissions but wrapped in Italian flair. Both the Renegade and soon-to-join 500X will be built in Italy.
Two engines are available for the Renegade -- a 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder with a nine-speed transmission and a 1.4L MultiAir turbocharged four-cylinder with a six-speed manual transmission.
The Renegade is available in Sport, North, Limited, Trailhawk and Limited trim levels.
Sport trim includes 16-inch steel wheels, black exterior mirrors and door handles, capless fuel filler, six-way manual driver’s seat and four-way manual passenger’s seat, cloth upholstery, 60/40 split folding rear seat, tilt and telescoping steering column, height-adjustable reversible cargo floor, front centre sliding armrest, power windows with one-touch up and down, power door locks, keyless entry, tire pressure monitor, electronic parking brake, and trailer sway control.
Sport 4X4 adds Active Drive 4X4 system with Selec-Terrain traction management system, air conditioning, heated power mirrors, and cruise control.
North trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels (17 inches with 2.4-litre engine), front seat map pockets, ambient LED lighting, cruise control, air conditioning, 5.0-inch display audio with AM/FM/Bluetooth/Satellite radio, USB port, leather-wrapped steering wheel, body-colour door mirrors and handles, power heated mirrors, black roof rails, privacy glass, fog lamps, automatic headlamps, and sun visors with illuminated vanity mirror.
North 4X4 adds Active Drive 4X4 system with Selec-Terrain traction management system.
Trailhawk adds standard Active Drive 4X4 system with Selec-Terrain traction management, 2.4L engine with nine-speed automatic, Jeep Active Drive Low, hill descent control, red tow hooks, skid plates, 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, premium cloth seating, accent-colour roof rails, unique front and rear fascia, all-season floor mats, black painted roof, 115-volt power outlet, and a full-size spare tire.
Limited builds on North with standard Active Drive 4X4 system with Selec-Terrain traction management, 2.4L engine with nine-speed automatic, heated leather front seats, 40/20/40 split rear seat with trunk pass-through, windshield wiper de-icer, proximity key with push-button start, chrome exhaust tip, chrome roof rails, chrome exterior mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, 115-volt power outlet, seven-inch TFT instrument cluster display, 18-inch aluminum wheels, remote start, and reverse camera.
