Slotted in between the smaller Renegade, and the larger Cherokee, the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass’s handsome ruggedness is applied with a more conventional and digestible appearance than either of its siblings. It’s a measure more handsome and normal than both, and it looks little like the old Compass, which is swell. Think “baby Grand Cherokee” and you’re in the ballpark. Best of all, you definitely won’t lose this one in the Home Depot parking lot.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.

On certain vehicles equipped with the Roadside Emergency Kit containing a Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the suspect Kidde fire extinguisher with a new Kidde fire extinguisher with a steel nozzle. For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.kidde.com.

Certain vehicles may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS 101) – Location and Identification of Controls and Displays. The photo-sensor calibration of the instrument cluster panel may not detect day-to-night lighting transition correctly. This could prevent the instrument cluster panel from providing backlighting with at least two levels of brightness contrary to the requirements of the standard. Correction: Dealers will update the instrument cluster panel software with new photo-sensor calibrations as necessary.

Certain vehicles may have User’s Guides containing incorrect information regarding jump start procedures. The battery jumping section in the affected User’s Guide depicts the battery terminals with reversed polarity in the battery terminal graphic. If a person were to follow the procedure listed within the User’s Guide for jump starting, the risk of a possible electrical hazard injury would be increased due to the incorrect terminal polarity graphic. Correction: Dealers will replace the User's Guide with the a corrected version.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 6-speed Aisin transmission, the left front halfshaft may disengage from the transmission and/or break. If this occurs, the vehicle would lose motive power and the park function, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the left front halfshaft for proper engagement in the transmission and replace the left front halfshaft if it is not properly engaged.
