For 2009, the Jaguar XK's lineup is topped by the limited-edition XKR Portfolio, with only 15 destined for Canada. Other models receive new standard features, including a premium sound system, USB auxiliary input, front park control and power-folding mirrors.

The XK is available with a choice of two engines: a naturally-aspirated 4.2-litre V8 in the XK coupe and convertible, and a supercharged 4.2-litre V8 in the XKR and Portfolio coupe and convertible models. All use a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and wheel-mounted paddles.

Features on the XK models include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, active suspension damping, electronic parking brake, front and rear parking control, keyless entry, Satin American Walnut or Burl Walnut wood interior trim, 10-way power heated leather seats with memory, six-CD Alpine Premium Surround Sound system with Dolby Pro Logic II and auxiliary input, Sirius satellite radio, driver information centre, navigation system, auto-levelling bi-xenon headlamps with washers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated power-folding auto-dimming exterior mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, power tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped wheel, and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. The convertible also includes a power top and rollover protection device.

The XKR models add active headlamps, quad exhaust tips, unique "R" exterior styling, performance brakes with black calipers, sports seats, aluminum interior trim, Alston suede-style headliner and polished stainless steel pedals.

The XKR Portfolio models add 20-inch wheels, exclusive Shadow Grey metallic paint, soft-grain leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, 16-way power seats, leather-edged floor mats, and six-CD Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system.

Featuring a lightweight aluminum body structure, the XK is stiff, sporty and great fun to drive, especially with the XKR's supercharged engines. The convertible tops go down and self-stow in 18 seconds, and the vehicle is designed as a drop-top, so there's no lack of "tossability" just because there isn't a hard roof. The Portfolio models return for 2009, but in even more limited numbers than in 2008, so get yours before they're gone.
