History/Overview
The Jaguar XF traces its beginnings to 2009, when it replaced the S-Type as the company's mid-sized sedan. Since then, Jaguar has made running changes to the XF, including adding a four-cylinder turbo engine and refreshing the car's styling.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, the XF sees its trim offerings pared down to three from last year's 10 configurations. Among the casualties is a diesel engine that is gone from the car's option sheet.
Available Trims
Jaguar offers the XF in Prestige, Checkered Flag and S trims, each of which comes with its own engine. Prestige and Checkered Flag use a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder that's tuned for more power in the latter configuration. XF S gets a 3.0L supercharged V6. An eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD are standard across the line.
Standard Features
XF Prestige comes with a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, illuminated door sills, a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, partial LED taillights, auto-dimming and power-fold side mirrors, power-adjustable steering column, dual-zone climate control, passive keyless entry, perforated leather upholstery, heated 14-way power front seats with memory, suede headliner, 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and front and rear parking sensors.
Checkered Flag trim adds adaptive LED headlights with signature lighting, aluminum dash trim, a digital gauge cluster, lane keep assist and a driver condition monitor.
XF S gains 20-inch wheels, trim-specific exterior trim, red brake calipers, adaptive and configurable driving dynamics, soft-grain leather steering wheel, 18-way power front seats, automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
Key Options
A comfort and convenience package adds hands-free trunk operation, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, and soft-close doors.
A tech package brings a surround sound stereo, CD/DVD player and a digital gauge cluster.
The Prestige trim's vision assist pack includes adaptive LED headlights, emergency braking, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic warning and lane departure warning.
Fuel Economy
Jaguar's fuel consumption estimates for the XF are 10.1/7.2 L/100 km (city/highway) with the four-cylinder engine, and 12.0/8.4 for the V6-powered XF S.
Competition
Jaguar competes for the attention of luxury sedan buyers with the likes of the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Volvo S90, Cadillac CTS and CT6, Lincoln MKZ and Continental, Lexus GS, Acura RLX, and Genesis G80.
