Overview
Introduced in 2019 as an all-new model, the I-Pace is Jaguar’s first-ever electric vehicle, which is classed as a compact crossover.
What's New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2021, the I-Pace receives a number of updates. Jaguar has revised the I-Pace’s battery system for faster charging. There’s also a new Pivi Pro infotainment system designed to function more like a smartphone, and the digital gauge cluster gets new graphics. New to the options list is wireless smartphone charging.
Available Trims
Jaguar offers the I-Pace in S, SE and HSE trim levels. All share the same electric propulsion system, which provides all-wheel drive traction.
Standard Features
S trim’s exterior comes fitted with LED headlights with auto leveling, headlight washers, heated/power-adjustable/power-folding side mirrors with driver-side auto dimming, LED taillights, rear fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch wheels and tires, and an electric parking brake.
In the cabin, S offers a fixed panoramic sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control, LED reading lights, rear under-seat storage, a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, Luxtec upholstery, eight-way power front seats, upper and lower infotainment touchscreens, navigation, an interactive driver display, a garage door remote, and smartphone integration.
Standard safety kit comprises tire pressure monitoring, forward collision warning with emergency braking, a driver condition monitor, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, rear traffic monitor, 360-degree camera views, and blind spot assist.
SE trim adds 20-inch wheels, 14-way power front seats, upgraded LED headlights with signature lighting, a power tailgate, and leather upholstery.
Finally, HSE brings unique 20-inch wheels, 16-way power front seats with heat/ventilation, heated rear seats, an upgraded stereo, a head-up driver display, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
Key Options
A driver assist pack adds adaptive cruise with steering assist. A cold climate package brings a heated windshield and heated washer jets.
Fuel Economy
As of this writing, Jaguar had not published fuel consumption estimates for the 2021 I-Pace. However, they should be similar to those for the 2020 model, which are 2.9/3.3 Le/100 km (city/highway), with a promised maximum driving range of 377 km.
Competition
The I-Pace’s closest competitors are the Audi E-tron, the Tesla Model Y and Volvo’s XC40 Recharge. There are other upscale plug-in crossovers, but they are gas-electric hybrids with less electric driving range.
