Overview
The F-Type is the latest in a long line of sinuous coupes from Jaguar. Mixing British style with strong performance and luxury in a package that has been unmistakable since the XKs of the 1940s.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Jaguar has refreshed the F-Type for 2021 with all-new styling front and rear including a larger grille with a new mesh and thinner LED headlights. Inside is a new digital dashboard and Jag has fitter a new infotainment system on a 10.0-inch screen. The V8 models add some extra power.
Available Trims
The F-Type is available as a coupe and a convertible, both starting with a 296 hp turbo-four driving the rear wheels, then a 3.0L 380 hp supercharged V6 driving all four and finally a 575 hp AWD V8. The six is badged F-Type R-Dynamic and the V8 F-Type R.
Standard Features
Jaguar includes LED running lights and 18-inch wheels as well as an active sports exhaust. Navigation is included as is a Meridian sound system. The interior is grained leather and suede with 12-way power-adjust front seats. Rain sensing wipers are included as are emergency braking, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, cruise control, a heated steering wheel, and push start.
R-Dynamic adds a body kit for special styling and gloss black exterior trim. It also has 20-inch alloys. Inside is an aluminum center console and the driveline gains a limited slip rear differential, along with adaptive dampers for the suspension.
R adds 20-inch alloys and larger brakes plus an electronic active differential. The interior is restyled with R-brand trimmings and performance seats in Windsor leather.
Key Options
Jaguar offers extensive colour and seating options on all models. The cars also offer blind spot alerts and a heated windshield, as well as park assist.
Fuel Economy
Four-cylinder Jaguar F-Type models are rated for an estimated 10.2 L/100 km city, 7.8 highway. V6 models should get 13.0/9.2, while the V8 is estimated at 15.2/9.8
Competition
F-Type competes against the Porsche 911 as well as the Lexus LC, the BMW 8 Series Coupe, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe, and coupe versions of Audi's A5. It also fights with the likes of the Porsche Boxter/Cayman and the Chevrolet Corvette, though those cars are all mid-engined.
