NEW FOR 2015:
- QX70 5.0 AWD discontinued
- QX70 3.7 AWD Sport added
For 2015, Infiniti has dropped the V8 option from the QX70’s lineup. This was the last Infiniti product to use this engine, and rather than upgrade it to the 5.6-litre motor featured in the Q70 luxury sedan, the brand will focus its efforts on V6-powered models.
In its place is the new QX70 3.7 AWD Sport, which adds some of the V8’s features to the standard QX70, including sports seats with adjustable side bolsters and contrast stitching, Maple wood trim, and navigation, but not the bigger brakes, adaptive dampers, or rear-wheel steering.
Nevertheless, the QX70 remains a stand-out option in a crowded field of luxury crossover vehicles. Even against coupe-inspired options like the BMW X6, the QX70 stands apart with its sports-car like hood and fastback stance. Balanced handling and keen throttle response make it feel more car-like than many of its rivals. It is worth noting that the ride is on the firm side, especially with the Sport’s standard 21-inch alloy wheels.
All QX70s come powered by a naturally aspirated 3.7-litre V6 engine that develops 325 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired to a standard seven-speed automatic transmission that features downshift rev matching and Infiniti’s ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system.
Features on the QX70 3.7 AWD include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic bi-xenon headlamps, fog lights, LED tail lights, power glass sunroof, power tailgate with closure assist, aluminum roof rails, rear spoiler, solar-tint glass, rear privacy glass, power-folding heated exterior mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature, speed-sensitive wipers, dual exhaust, proximity key with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, power windows with auto up/down, overhead ambient lighting, illuminated vanity mirrors, sunglass storage, console armrest, cargo cover, floor mats, quilted leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, 10-way power driver’s seat, eight-way power passenger’s seat, driver memory, reclining rear seats, 60/40 split folding seats with remote fold-down release in cargo area, Black lacquer trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, stainless steel kick plates, 11-speaker Bose stereo with AM/FM/CD/MP3, USB and aux-in jack, satellite radio, electroluminescent gauges, power tilt and telescoping steering column, 7.0-inch display audio system, reverse camera, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with garage door opener, cruise control, analogue clock, and alarm.
The Navigation and Deluxe Touring Package adds hard-drive based navigation with 8.0 inch display, voice recognition, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, front and rear parking sensors, CD/DVD player, and Maple wood interior trim.
The Technology Package (requires Navigation and Deluxe Touring Package) adds full-speed radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-departure prevention, distance control alert, intelligent brake assist with forward collision warning, pre-crash front seatbelts, rain-sensing wipers, and adaptive front headlamps.
The QX70 3.7 AWD Sport adds gloss black 21-inch alloy wheels, dark-finish chrome exterior trim, adaptive front headlights, dark-finish mirrors, advanced climate control system with air purifier, dark headliner, solid magnesium paddle shifters, Maple wood interior trim, sport seats with adjustable side bolsters and purple contrast stitching, hard-drive based navigation with 8.0-inch display, voice recognition, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, front and rear parking sensors, and CD/DVD player.
