Infiniti competes for mid-size luxury crossover dollars with the QX60. This stylish vehicle makes an impression with organic curves and then impresses with a smooth, strong powertrain and a compliant ride. QX60's interior is less obviously tech intensive than some competitors, but is well-finished and includes an easy-to-access third row with useful space. To top it off, Infiniti's mid-sizer is one of the segment's best values.
Love this car! Very smooth ride. Seats are very comfortable and soft. Ride height is good. Tows good, very quiet. Love sport mode, 0-60 in what feels like seconds.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the driver seat belt pretensioner may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the seat belt pretensioner may not work properly in a crash.
Safety Risk:
A seat belt pretensioner that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver seat belt pretensioner.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the driver-front airbag may not have been manufactured properly. Over time, moisture could enter the inflator and cause it not to inflate properly in a crash.
Safety Risk:
An airbag that doesn't inflate properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-front airbag.
Issue:
In certain situations, a software problem in the adaptive front-light system (AFS) could cause the headlamps to become incorrectly aimed while driving.
Safety Risk:
Headlamps that aren't properly aimed could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the intelligent power distribution module.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the driver's seat frame may not have been properly welded. As a result, the seat frame could break in a crash.
Safety Risk:
A seat frame that breaks in a crash could create an increased risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver's seat cushion frame.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the antilock brake system (ABS) actuator pump may leak brake fluid and malfunction. This would cause the ABS warning lamp to turn on. If this problem is not fixed, damage to the ABS actuator could result in a short circuit.
Note: This is a replacement and expansion of Transport Canada recall 2018-486. All vehicles that did not have the ABS actuator pump replaced under that recall require this repair.
Safety Risk:
A short circuit could increase the risk of a fire, even while parked.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail with an interim notice. A final repair is not yet available. If the ABS warning light stays on for 10 seconds or longer, you should park your vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures. You should also call Nissan or Infiniti Roadside assistance to have your vehicle towed to a dealer for repair. A second notice will be sent to you once the final repair parts are available. This letter will advise you to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the ABS actuator.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the rear view camera system does not return to the default setting when the transmission is shifted to reverse. This could cause a reduction in rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display. Canadian regulations require that the rear view image returns to its original setting each time the camera is turned on.
Safety Risk:
Reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rear view camera.
On certain vehicles, the antilock brake system (ABS) actuator pump may leak brake fluid onto an electronic circuit board, causing it to malfunction. This would cause the illumination of the ABS warning lamp on the instrument panel. If the vehicle continues to be operated, damage to the ABS module could lead to a fire, creating a risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the ABS actuator as necessary. Note: This replaces recall 2016-424. Vehicles repaired under that campaign require a second repair under this campaign.
On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: For affected Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue and Sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected Leaf, NV200, Pathfinder, Q50 and JX35/QX60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.
Certain vehicles serviced as part of recall 2014-093 or which had the Occupant Classification System (OCS) module replaced during servicing may have been fitted with an incorrect replacement OCS module. An incorrect OCS module would impair the effectiveness of the OCS, potentially failing to properly classify an adult passenger seated in the front passenger seat. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in a crash. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the OCS module.
On certain vehicles, The front hub assembly bolts may not have been tightened to specification. If the bolts were to loosen, the brake caliper could separate from the wheel hub assembly, reducing braking performance and affecting vehicle stability. This could result in an accident causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and torque bolts to specification.
On certain vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly, preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. This could cause the secondary latch to remain in the open position and allow the hood to open suddenly while driving if the primary hood latch was not engaged properly or accidentally released. This could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will adjust the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable.
On some vehicles, one of the five wheel lug nuts on the right-side wheels may have been installed without being tightened to specification. This could cause the wheel(s) to become loose and separate from the vehicle, affecting vehicle handling and increasing risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will verify wheel lug nut torque.
On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If this occurs, the passenger airbag would be deactivated without the illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system.
On certain vehicles, incorrect antilock braking system (ABS) calibration may result in longer than expected stopping distances during light braking on rough roads. This could potentially increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the ABS system software.
