History/Overview
The QX50 is Infiniti’s entry in the lucrative compact luxury crossover marketplace. This second-generation model arrived in 2019, replacing a design that had been around since the late 2000s as the EX35 and was renamed QX50 in 2014.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the QX50 gets a few new standard features, which we’ve detailed below.
Available Trims
Infiniti offers the QX50 in Pure, I-Line, Sensory, and Autograph trim levels. All are powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
New for this year, entry-level Pure models come with wireless Apple CarPlay, the ProPilot Assist suite of driver aids, a USB-C charge port for rear-seat passengers, passive keyless entry sensors and welcome lights on the rear door handles, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Pure trim’s standard features list continues with 19-inch wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, LED taillights, and a power tailgate. Inside are dual (8.0- and 7.0-inch) touchscreens, six-speaker audio, heated/power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic A/C.
Among the QX50’s standard safety features are forward collision detection/mitigation, blind spot warning/intervention, lane departure warning/intervention, radar cruise control, automatic high beams, rear automatic braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.
I-Line adds 20-inch wheels, power-folding side mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, and leather upholstery.
Sensory trim brings adaptive headlights, hands-free tailgate, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, 16-speaker audio, a head-up display, navigation, and surround-view cameras.
Finally, Autograph trim gets rear window sunshades, three-zone A/C, Ultrasuede headlining, maple wood accents, and quilted upholstery.
Fuel Economy
Infiniti’s fuel consumption estimates for the QX50 are 10.8/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Compact luxury crossovers are very popular with today’s buyers, so there are a lot of well-done competitors against which to cross-shop the QX50. They include the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Acura RDX, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60, Cadillac XT5, and Lincoln Corsair.
