The Infiniti QX30 is the brand's newest luxury crossover, and it's planted firmly in the compact segment, which is one of the hottest sports in the market right now. Designed with an eye on fashion, and with very distinctive styling, the beltline is high, which can make it feel small inside. The Infiniti grille and the curving sheet metal set it apart from more plain styled competition like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
The QX30 shares a platform with the Mercedes-Benz GLA, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the outside. Inside, the power seat switches and some of the other switchgear is clearly Benz, but that's certainly not a bad place to borrow from. The styling and infotainment system are pure Infiniti, and some of the interior materials are even nicer than Mercedes uses. The sloping roofline cuts into rear seat headroom and cargo space in the rear.
The QX30 is available in three trim levels, all with the same 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 208 hp and sending drive through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The engine is equipped with stop-start to improve fuel economy.
The base QX30 is front-wheel drive, and comes with a six-speaker audio system, bluetooth, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, smart-key access, and a rear-view camera. Nappa leather seats are standard, with heating and eight-way power adjustment. An optional premium package adds a 10-speaker Bose stereo, automatic wipers, a moonroof, front and rear parking sensors, and navigation.
QX30 AWD is all-wheel drive, and is equipped as the base model. The premium package is available, but a technology pack is also available that adds blind spot warnings, forward emergency braking, radar cruise control, park assist, surround view monitor, LED headlights, and enhanced LED interior lighting.
QX30 Sport is front-wheel drive and comes with all the features of the premium and technology packages. It also adds sport seats and steering wheel, along with a colour display in the gauge cluster. The Sport gets larger brakes and special bumpers with gloss black trim.
The QX30 and QX30 sport are rated for 9.7 L/100 km city and 7.1 highway. The QX30 AWD is rated at 10.6/8.0.
