Infiniti's Q50 gains a pair of new, more turbocharged engines for 2016 to bring this sport sedan in line with competitive offerings from its key Japanese, Domestic and European competitors.
The big story is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that's available in two states of tune: one that makes 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and another good for 400 hp and 350 lb-ft. At the other end of the scale is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder capable of 208 hp and 258 lb-ft.
The only powertrain carried over from last year is that of the Q50 Hybrid, which puts a 3.5L V6 to work with an electric motor for a combined output of 360 hp.
All Q50 models come with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel consumption estimates are 10.6/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway) for the four-cylinder Q50 2.0t; the 3.0t Premium model is rated 12.3/8.5 L/100 km, and the 400-hp Red Sport model's figures are 12.8/9.1 L/100 km.
2.0t standard features include LED headlights and daytime running lights, sunroof, speed-sensing wipers, chrome exhaust finishers, leatherette upholstery, heated eight-way power front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-display InTouch infotainment system, aluminum interior trim, backup camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, intelligent keyless entry with push-button start and a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio.
3.0t Premium models add a 14-speaker stereo and a power-adjustable steering column.
3.0t Sport and Red Sport trims add leather sport seats and rain-sensing wipers.
Pricing starts at $39,900 for the 2.0t model, and $56,400 for Hybrid variants. MSRPs for 3.0t versions hadn't been announced at the time of this writing.
