For 2012, the Infiniti M lineup adds a hybrid model. The M35h uses a gasoline engine with electric motor and lithium-ion battery. Depending on conditions, it is capable of driving on electric power alone at speeds of up to 100 km/h and can travel on electric propulsion for up to 1.9 km at a time.
The M is available as the M37, with 3.7-litre V6 engine; as the M56, with 5.6-litre V8; and as the M35h, with 3.5-litre V6 and 50 kW electric motor. All models use a seven-speed automatic transmission. All are rear-wheel drive, while the M37 and M56 can be optioned with an all-wheel drive system as the M37x and M56x.
Features on the M37 and M37x include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, intelligent key with pushbutton ignition, power sunroof, auto up/down windows, illuminated vanity mirrors, ten-way power heated leather seats, CD/MP3 stereo, XM satellite radio, USB connector, seven-inch vehicle information screen, rearview monitor, Bluetooth connectivity, electroluminescent gauges, analog clock, power tilt and telescopic steering column, xenon headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and power-folding heated mirrors with reverse tilt-down.
The M35h builds on the M37 and adds premium automatic climate control, sport-tuned suspension, Bose surround sound audio system, navigation system, Bluetooth streaming audio, auto-levelling adaptive headlamps, intelligent cruise control, Eco Pedal, premium leather climate-controlled front seats, heated steering wheel, power rear sunshade, power liftgate, silver-powdered wood accents, suede-style headliner, distance control assist, intelligent brake assist with forward collision warning, blind spot warning and intervention system, active tracing control, pre-crash seatbelts, and lane departure warning and prevention system.
The M56 and M56x build on the M37 and M37x models and add navigation system with eight-inch screen and voice recognition, Bose premium audio system, 9.3 GB Music Box hard drive, Bluetooth streaming audio, climate-controlled front seats, and heated steering wheel.
Both rear-wheel drive models can be optioned with a Sport package that adds 20-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel active steering, sport-tuned suspension, four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers, bolstered sport seats, sport-trimmed steering wheel with paddle shifters, adaptive front lighting, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, distance control assist, intelligent brake assist with forward collision warning, blind spot intervention system, active tracing control, eco pedal, Forest Air system with air purifier, aluminum pedal accents, and power rear sunshade. On the M37, the package also adds the M56’s additional navigation system, premium audio, climate-controlled seats and heated steering wheel.
