- New seven-speed automatic transmission
- Standard Scratch Shield "self-healing" clearcoat paint finish

For 2009, the Infiniti G series is now the G37 in all configurations, as the previous G35 sedan receives a new 3.7-litre V6 first seen in the 2008 G37 coupe. There is also a new convertible model with three-piece retractable hardtop. Other enhancements include available sport brakes, new 18-inch wheels, and revised interior trim including softer-touch lower door panels, bright aluminum trim colour and dial-type seat heater switch.
The new convertible has an all-new design from the A-pillars back, including structural reinforcements, wider rear track, modified rear suspension, rear pop-up bar, and available headrest audio speakers, wind deflector, and climate-controlled front seats.
The G37 coupe now includes an all-wheel drive version, also used in the G37x sedan, as well as the Infiniti M, EX and FX models, known as ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split). The system uses an active torque distribution system with active centre clutch, which runs primarily in rear-wheel drive but sends up to 50 per cent of torque to the front wheels when needed. A new seven-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous five-speed automatic and includes downshift rev matching. All G37 models also receive new standard Scratch Shield paint, an "elastic" clearcoat that gradually eliminates small scratches.
All models use a 3.7-litre V6 engine that makes 328 horsepower in the sedan, 330 horsepower in the coupe, and 325 horsepower in the convertible, mated to a seven-speed automatic or available six-speed manual transmission. The sedan is available as the G37, G37x Sport, G37x AWD and the G37S Sport (with manual transmission); trim lines in the coupe are the G37, G37 with Sport Package, Sport 6MT (with manual transmission) and G37x. The convertible comes in Sport or Sport 6MT trim.

The G37x AWD sedan uses 17-inch alloy wheels and builds on the G37 with dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, six-CD/MP3 stereo, and XM satellite radio.

Beautifully styled, the Infiniti G37 now has its stronger engine in all configurations, along with the availability of all-wheel drive. The optional six-speed manual gives driving enthusiasts the ability to row the gears themselves, a feature that is becoming rare in larger luxury cars, while the convertible offers the pleasure of open-air motoring with the convenience of an all-weather retractable roof. Depending on the model, available options include navigation system, memory seat, and a four-wheel Active Steer system, which improves handling by varying the front steering ratio and adjusting the rear suspension's geometry according to vehicle speed and steering input.
