For 2007, the G35 Coupe receives minor enhancements: there are standard automatic headlights, and all but the 6MT receive a standard Intelligent Key.
The G35 coupe is built on the company’s FM (front-midship) platform, which it shares with the Nissan 350Z. Unlike the G35 sedan, it is only available in rear-wheel drive.
The G35 comes as the Coupe, with a Sport Package, or with a Sport Package M6 (manual six-speed transmission). All models use a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 275 hp in the Coupe and Sport Package, and 293 hp in the M6. The Coupe and Sport Package use a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
Features on the G35 include 17-inch alloy wheels, Intelligent Key, power sunroof, Xenon headlamps, fog lamps, heated mirrors, speed-sensitive wipers, automatic headlamps, dual-zone automatic climate control, power tilt and telescopic wheel, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, garage door opener, heated leather seats with eight-way driver and four-way passenger power adjustment, driver’s side memory, leather-wrapped three-spoke wheel, six-CD/MP3 stereo, side and curtain airbags, and tire pressure monitoring system.
The Sport Package adds 18-inch alloy wheels, drilled aluminum pedals, sport-specific fascias, spoiler, sport-tuned suspension and viscous limited-slip rear differential.
The Sport M6 adds 19-inch alloy wheels.
While the G35 sedan receives a major redesign, the coupe retains its interior and exterior styling, but it’s still a lovely design. It’s a tighter fit for passengers than its sedan cousin, but that’s because it’s a driver’s car: fast, responsive and made to drive on a winding road. There’s extra pleasure in the M6, which not only presents the ability to control the shifts, but puts 18 more horses under one’s right foot.
