NEW FOR 2008:
- Standard XM Satellite Radio
- Revised interior/exterior colour combination availability
For 2008, the Infiniti FX35 and FX45 SUVs are unchanged, with only the addition of standard XM Satellite Radio.
Sharing its platform with the Nissan Murano, the FX is available as the FX35, with 3.5-litre V6, and as the FX45, with 4.5-litre V8, both with five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Both are equipped with standard all-wheel drive, which runs at 99 per cent rear-wheel bias under most conditions, but will shift up to 50 per cent of power to the front wheels when necessary.
Features on the FX35 include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leather seats with ten-way driver and eight-way passenger power adjustment, Xenon headlamps, fog lamps, power sunroof, heated mirrors, rear privacy glass, LED taillights, variable intermittent wipers, intermittent rear wiper, black roof rails, aluminum and rosewood trim, leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, six-CD/MP3 stereo with XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel-mounted controls, power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, cruise control, and tire pressure monitoring system.
The FX45 adds 20-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, tinted head- and taillights, aluminum roof rails, power-folding mirrors, cargo cover and net, and drilled aluminum pedals.
Beautifully designed, the FX includes a sloping roofline that allows for only two rows of seats; given the vehicle's size, there isn't a great deal of cargo space, although the rear seats fold for oversized items. Both models are very well done, with excellent handling and performance; those on a budget should also consider the FX's Nissan Murano cousin.
