History/Overview
In 2012, Hyundai introduced the Veloster as an affordable hatchback with sporty intentions and a quirky three-door body. Initially based on the Accent subcompact, a second-generation model came in 2019 sharing a platform with the Elantra. Starting with 2020, the high-performance Veloster N you’re reading about now is the only way this car comes.

For 2022, the Hyundai Veloster N carries over unchanged from 2021.
Available Trims
Hyundai offers the Veloster N in a single trim. Power is from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which comes either with a six-speed manual transmission, or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Standard Features
Every Veloster N comes with 19-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, heated side mirrors, heated front seats, 8.0-infotainment with navigation, an eight-speaker stereo, automatic A/C, heated/leather-trimmed steering wheel, and passive keyless entry.
Also included is a safety suite comprising forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane following/keeping assist, and driver attention warning.
Fuel Economy
Hyundai’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.6/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with the six-speed manual, and 12.0/8.6 L/100 km with the eight-speed automatic.
Competition
With its generous power and capable handling, the Veloster N competes with the Mini Cooper JCW, Volkswagen Golf R, Honda Civic Type R, and Subaru WRX.
