NEW FOR 2014:
- New LED interior lights
- New third-generation infotainment system with reverse camera
- New colours: Platinum Silver, Polished Metal, Ice White Pearl, Phantom Black
- Camel leather and cloth upholstery discontinued
With a new more efficient battery pack on board courtesy of last year’s update, the Sonata Hybrid cruises into 2014 effectively unchanged other than a revised infotainment system with standard reverse camera, new LED interior lights and a handful of new colours.
The Hybrid version of Hyundai’s midsize is an amenable family-friendly fuel-saver which offers strong performance and enough range to travel a diesel-besting 1,300 km on a tank of fuel. Unlike most hybrids in the segment, the Sonata uses a traditional six-speed automatic, which does away with the droning engine noise under hard acceleration that most rivals suffer from. A powerful 47 kW lithium-polymer battery pack plus a revised clutch system help it travel up to 120 km/h on electric power alone.
Trim levels on the Sonata Hybrid are base and Limited.
Features on the Sonata Hybrid include 16-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, Hybrid-specific front grille, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, fog lights, power windows with driver's auto up/down, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity key with push-button start, cruise control, telescopic steering wheel, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, steering wheel audio remote control, 4.3-inch display audio system with six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo, satellite radio, USB and aux-in jack, reverse camera, front heated seats, power heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, solar control glass, leather-wrapped steering wheel, front windshield wiper de-icer, chrome door handles, chrome bodyside insert, dual zone automatic climate control, rear console air ventilation, auto light control, supervision cluster with advanced LCD trip computer, brushed aluminum-design interior accents.
