Hyundai upped its crossover SUV game big time in 2020 with the introduction of the Palisade, a mid-size, three-row model aimed at buyers who want upscale accoutrements at mainstream prices.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2023, the Palisade gets revised interior and exterior styling, and a new XRT option that lends this big crossover a more rugged look. Last year’s entry-grade Essential trim is replaced by an Urban configuration, and Luxury trim is gone with most of its extra features now included in the Urban package. Noteworthy among the smaller changes are new USB-C phone charging ports (replacing USB-A outlets), and a higher-wattage wireless phone charging pad that will juice up your device more quickly.
Available Trims
Hyundai offers the Palisade in Urban, Preferred, and Ultimate Calligraphy trim levels. In all, power is from a 3.8L V6 engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Urban trim comes with heated/ventilated/power-adjustable front seats with driver cushion extension, heated rear seats, a power-folding third row, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, dual-zone A/C, a hands-free tailgate, second-row automatic A/C, and a 12-speaker stereo. You also get digital gauges, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, 20-inch wheels, passive keyless entry, rear side sunshades, a sunroof, an auto-dimming mirror, and LED headlights.
The Palisade’s standard safety package comprises adaptive cruise, surround-view cameras, automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, highway driving assist, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping/follow assist, driver attention warning, safe exit assist, rear occupant alert, and rear park assist.
Preferred trim downgrades to cloth upholstery, a lesser sound system, and analog gauges.
Ultimate Calligraphy brings Nappa leather, four-way driver lumbar, ventilated second-row seats, wireless phone charging, a head-up display, rear collision mitigation, a full digital gauge display, a dual-panel sunroof, LED taillights, and rain-sensing wipers.

Hyundai’s fuel consumption estimates are 12.6/9.5 L/100 km (city/highway).

The Palisade faces off against the Kia Telluride, Mazda CX-9, Subaru Ascent, Volkswagen Atlas, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Dodge Durango, Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder, GMC Acadia, and Chevrolet Traverse.
