History/Overview
The Hyundai Kona N is notable entry in the subcompact crossover class, being a high-performance model in a field not known for speedy entries; normally, you have to move up to premium and luxury brands to get a track-ready configuration in a small SUV.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2023, the Kona N is unchanged.
Available Trims
Hyundai offers the Kona N in a single trim level, powered by a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike the regular Kona, the N is only sold with front-wheel drive and not offered with AWD.
Standard Features
Included on every Kona N are 19-inch wheels, an electronic limited-slip differential, auto on/off LED headlights, and passive keyless entry. Inside, you get a power driver’s seat, leather/suede upholstery, heated front seats/steering wheel, and dual-zone A/C. The infotainment package includes a head-up driver display, eight-speaker audio, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital gauges, and wireless phone charging.
Standard safety items include high beam assist, forward collision mitigation, blind spot/rear cross-traffic collision mitigation, lane following/keeping assist, driver attention warning, and safe exit warning.
Fuel Economy
Hyundai’s fuel consumption estimates are 11.8/8.7 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Kona N is effectively in a class of one as a non-luxury high-performance small crossover. If you want options, the closest thing we can recommend is the Mazda CX-30 with its optional turbocharged engine.
