For 2011, the Hyundai Genesis undergoes improvements to its 4.6-litre V8, with horsepower up to 385 from 375, and with slightly better fuel economy. Other improvements include lighter, better-performing suspension links, turn signals integrated into the mirrors, and an updated driver information system.
The Genesis sedan is available with a 3.8-litre V6 or 4.6-litre V8, both with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. (The Genesis Coupe is covered in a separate entry.)
Features on the 3.8 include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, acoustic laminated windshield and front side glass, exterior temperature display, six-CD/MP3 stereo with seven speakers, auxiliary input, iPod interface, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, garage door opener, compass, automatic headlamps, Bluetooth connectivity, floor mats, illuminated vanity mirrors, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, electroluminescent gauges, fog lights, eight-way driver and four-way passenger heated leather seats, driver’s side memory, heated windshield wiper park, proximity key with pushbutton start, rain-sensing wipers, active front head restraints, solar-control glass, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and woodgrain interior trim.
The 3.8 Premium Package adds 18-inch alloy wheels, Lexicon 14-speaker sound system, front and rear park assist, navigation system with 6.5-inch touch screen, back-up camera, and auto-levelling xenon lamps.
The 3.8 Technology Package builds on the Premium Package and adds aluminum interior trim, six-DVD/MP3 Lexicon stereo with 17 speakers, three-stage cooled driver’s seat, driver information system with multimedia controller, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, electric parking brake, leather-wrapped crash pad, smart cruise control, navigation system with eight-inch touch screen, power rear sunshade, smart cruise control, and auto-levelling adaptive xenon headlamps.
The 4.8 comes only with the Technology Package. It includes everything on the 3.8 Technology Package and adds unique 18-inch alloy wheels, electric-hydraulic power steering, illuminated door scuff plates, limited-slip rear differential, lower body side moulding with chrome inserts, and ultra-premium leather seats.
