History/Overview
The seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra moves into its third model year following a 2021 redesign that made the car bigger and more tech intensive. This is one of three distinct versions of the Elantra, the others being thrifty hybrid and sporty N models, each of which is covered in its own buyer’s guide entry.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
This year, Hyundai has dropped the manual transmission from the Elantra’s entry-grade Essential trim.
Available Trims
Hyundai offers the Elantra in Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and N Line Ultimate trims. The first three configurations use a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while N Line Ultimate gets a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Standard Features
Essential trim’s highlights include 15-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, A/C, auto on/off headlights, heated side mirrors, and a four-speaker stereo. Also included is a safety suite comprising forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep/follow assist, driver attention warning, and automatic high beams.
Preferred trim adds 16-inch wheels, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, a heated steering wheel, and passive keyless entry with hands-free trunk opening.
Luxury trim gains 17-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, eight-speaker audio, an electric parking brake, and LED taillights.
Finally, N Line Ultimate brings 18-inch wheels, sport front seats with driver power adjustments, LED headlights, and sporty exterior styling elements.
Key Options
Preferred can be optioned with a tech package consisting of a sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital gauges, dual-zone A/C, and ambient lighting.
Fuel Economy
An available auto-stop system for the 2.0L engine brings the best fuel economy, at 7.1/5.5 L/100 km (city/highway), while the basic 2.0L powertrain is rated for 7.6/5.7 L/100 km. N Line models with the 1.6L turbo mill come with estimates of 8.4/6.6 L/100 km.
