For 2013, the Elantra sedan continues on relatively unchanged. However, two stablemates join the successful sedan - Elantra Coupe and Elantra GT - to give the nameplate a breadth of variants (the Elantra GT is a completely different architecture, based on the European i30, and will not be covered in this guide).
All Elantra variants and trims are powered by a DOHC 16-valve, four-cylinder engine with D-CVVT (Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing) and two-stage Variable Intake System (VIS), producing 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC manual mode. At the front, a McPherson strut system and 22mm stabilizer handle dampening duties, while the sedan gets a coupled torsion axle in the rear with the coupe receiving a V-beam torsion axle and integrated 22mm stabilizer. Both get coil springs and mono-tube gas shocks in the back. The SE coupe receives an upgraded sport suspension.
The Elantra sedan receives an updated steering knuckle for improved steering feel; and darker, metallic accents to the interior center stack and steering wheel. In Limited trim, the sedan gets an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat as standard equipment. Trims as sedan include L, GL, GLS, Limited, and Limited with Navigation; and, as coupe include GLS and SE.
In L (sedan) trim, the sedan features 15-inch steel wheels, P195/65/R15 tires, 6-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with iPod/USB/auxiliary input jacks, trip computer, dual heated door mirrors, glass antenna, tinted glass, power windows with driver's auto down, power locks, centre console storage w/ armrest, cloth seats, adjustable height driver's seat, rear seat centre armrest with cupholders, floor mats, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, six airbags (front, front seat side mounted, roof mounted curtain), active headrests, ignition immobilizer, stability control, traction control, and vehicle stability management.
GL (sedan) trim adds 16-inch steel wheels, P205/55/R16 tires, air conditioning, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth phone integration, cruise control, heated front seats, steering wheel audio and cruise controls, telescoptic steering wheel, keyless entry, and security system.
GLS (sedan, coupe) trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, power sunroof, windshield sunshade band, cloth door inserts, heated rear seats, illuminated sunvisors, and leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. In addition to previous trims, the coupe also receives a rear lip spoiler, twin-tipped exhaust, and solar control glass.
SE (coupe) trim, including GLS features, adds 17-inch allow wheels, P215/45/R17 tires, six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC, automatic headlights, glossy black front bumper centre insert, mirror mounted turn signal indicators, 7-inch touchscreen navigation system, alloy pedals, stereo with external amp, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink, automatic climate control with air filtration, leather seating and door inserts, power windows with driver's auto up/down and window pinch protection, proximity key, push button start, rear-view camera, and sport tuned suspension.
Limited sedan trim, including GLS features, adds 17-inch alloy wheels, P215/45/R17 tires, six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC, automatic headlights, mirror-mounted turn signal indicators, solar control glass, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink, automatic climate control with air filtration, deluxe sliding armrest, leather seating and door inserts, 8-way adjustable power driver's seat, power windows with driver's auto up/down and window pinch protection.
Limited with Navigation sedan adds a 7-inch touchscreen navigation system, stereo with external amp, proximity entry, push button start, and rear-view camera.
