For 2010, the Hyundai Elantra receives some improvements: better fuel consumption, either a shift indicator or eco light as standard equipment, and a new grille and trunk accent. The GL with Sport Package backs up its name with a sport-tuned suspension, while the top-line GLS adds standard electronic stability control and traction control.
The Elantra Touring, a hatchback model, is covered in a separate entry.
The Elantra sedan uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. The L, GL and GL with Sport Package models use a five-speed manual transmission, which can be optioned to a four-speed automatic. The GLS and Limited models use the automatic only.
Features on the L include 15-inch steel wheels, manually-adjustable cloth bucket seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and four speakers, floor mats, front centre console with storage box, power locks, power front windows, manual mirrors, tilt steering wheel, tinted windows, and variable intermittent wipers.
The GL adds air conditioning, six speakers, driver’s height adjuster, heated premium cloth seats, map lights, heated power mirrors, rear centre armrest, rear power windows, driver’s auto-down window, keyless entry, cruise control, and sunglass holder.
The GL with Sport Package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution, chrome exhaust tip, body kit, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, power sunroof, rear spoiler, sport-tuned suspension, and windshield shade band.
The GLS builds on the GL and adds four-wheel disc brakes, active front head restraints, anti-lock brakes with brake assist and brake force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, side and curtain airbags, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
The Limited adds 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, illuminated vanity mirrors, ignition key illumination, leather seats, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel, power sunroof, trip computer, windshield shade band, and low washer fluid warning light.
