History/Overview
Hyundai introduced the Elantra Hybrid last year as part of the compact sedan’s redesigned seventh generation. That was the first time Hyundai had offered the Elantra with a gas-electric powertrain, but it joined the brand’s extensive range of hybrid, PHEV and battery electric vehices.

Available Trims
If you’re shopping for an Elantra Hybrid, you can choose from Preferred and Ultimate trim levels. Both use a 1.6L four-cylinder gas engine matched with an electric motor and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard Features
Elantra Hybrid Preferred trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off headlights, LED taillights, heated side mirrors, passive keyless entry, and hands-free trunk opening. Inside, there are heated front seats, cloth upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, dual-zone A/C, leather-trimmed shifter, leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, and cruise control.
Safety features include forward collision alert with automatic braking, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, lane following assist, lane departure warning/lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and safe exit warning.
Ultimate trim adds a dark chrome grille, satin chrome side window trim, a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, adaptive cruise control, leather seating, a split-folding rear seat, an all-digital gauge cluster, adaptive cruise, and an upgraded collision warning system with pedestrian/cyclist/junction turning detection.

Hyundai’s fuel consumption estimates for the Elantra Hybrid are 4.5/4.2 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Elantra Hybrid’s direct competitors include the brand’s own Ioniq Hybrid, as well as the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Honda Insight.
