History/Overview
The Odyssey is Honda’s long-running minivan model. The current fifth-generation model was introduced in 2018.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Honda has updated the Odyssey for 2021 with revised styling and a shorter selection of trims that eliminates last year’s entry-level LX and EX models.
Available Trims
The new trim range starts with the EX-RES model and moves through EX-L RES and EX-L Navi to Canada’s top-end Touring model. All are powered by a 3.5L V6 engine and a 10-speed transmission.
Standard Features
EX-RES comes dressed with chrome door handles, a front wiper de-icer, all-LED exterior lighting, a sunroof, power-sliding side doors, 18-inch wheels, capless fuel filling, remote engine start, passive keyless entry,
Inside, there’s an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an in-car PA system, conversation mirror, Bluetooth, built-in vacuum cleaner, three-zone A/C, a 12-way power driver’s seat and four-way power front passenger seat, heated front seats, and front and cargo area 12-volt power outlets.
All Odyssey models also come with automatic high beams, forward collision warning with automatic braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and a LaneWatch blind spot display.
EX-L RES adds a power tailgate, a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, leather seating, front and rear parking sensors, and a third-row power outlet.
EX-L Navi adds navigation.
Touring adds 19-inch wheels, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, a hands-free tailgate, power-folding side mirrors, an 11-speaker stereo, HondaLink connected services, a WiFi hotspot, ventilated front seats, and the CabinWatch rear-seat monitor. Touring also trades the LaneWatch system for proper blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
Fuel Economy
Honda’s fuel consumption estimates are 12.2/8.5 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The minivan field is smaller than it used to be, but the Odyssey still faces formidable competition from the Toyota Sienna, Kia’s Sedona, and Chrysler’s Grand Caravan and Pacifica models.
