NEW FOR 2011:
- Sport sedan and LX coupe renamed SE
- DX coupe discontinued
- DX sedan available with manual transmission only; EX-L sedan and coupe available with automatic transmission only
For 2011, changes to the Honda Civic are in its trim lines. The Sport sedan and LX coupe are both re-named the SE trim. The base coupe trim line is now the DX-G. The base DX sedan trim line can no longer be optioned with an automatic transmission, while the EX-L sedan and coupe, which previously came with the manual and could be optioned to the automatic, now come only with the automatic transmission.
The Civic is available as a sedan in DX, DX-G, SE, EX-L and SI trim, and as a coupe in DX-G, SE, EX-L and SI trim. The sedan is also available as a hybrid. All of the regular sedan and coupe models except the SI use a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual is used in the DX, DX-G and SE trim lines. The DX-G and SE can be optioned to a five-speed automatic transmission that is the only choice in the EX-L.
The SI uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. The Hybrid uses a 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine with Integrated Motor Assist and CVT. It can run on its battery alone at cruising speeds when conditions are right, and the battery also assists the gasoline engine when extra power is needed and operates the start-stop at idle for improved fuel economy.
Features on the DX sedan include 15-inch steel wheels, front splash guards, power mirrors, rear spoiler, two-speed intermittent wipers, power windows, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, CD/MP3/WMA stereo with four speakers, fold-down rear seatback, floor mats, and driver’s manual height adjuster.
The DX-G adds 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power locks with keyless entry, cruise control, and stereo auxiliary input.
The SE adds 16-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, body-colour mirrors and door handles, exhaust finisher, heated mirrors, power sunroof, variable intermittent wipers, exterior temperature display, map lights, auto up/down driver’s window, rear centre armrest, USB device connector, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 60/40 split-folding rear seat.
The EX-L adds electronic stability control, traction control, six speakers, wheel-mounted audio controls, and heated leather seats.
The Hybrid builds on the DX-G and adds automatic climate control, electronic stability control, traction control, USB port, brake assist, security alarm, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, variable intermittent wipers, map lights, auto up/down driver’s window, and six speakers.
The SI builds on the EX-L and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, limited-slip differential, sport-tuned suspension, fog lights, rear wing spoiler, and premium audio system.
