History/Overview
Honda's Civic has been the best-selling car in Canada since the turn of the century, and even at the end of its 10th generation, the car's sales and popularity remain strong. While we've already seen the 2022 Civic, it won't be on sale until later in the year and the 2021 model remains a strong choice for buyers looking for a sedan that's compact on the outside but massive on the inside.
What's New
For 2021, the last year of the current model's run, there are no major additions, but there are some removals. The sporty Si model is gone for 2021, and the manual transmission (and base-model DX-trim) are gone which has raised the price of entry to the car.
Available Trims
Honda Civic sedan is offered in LX, EX, Sport, and Touring trims, all with a CVT automatic. The three lower trims come with a 158 hp 2.0L four while the Touring has a 178 hp 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder.
Standard Features
Civic LX has a tilt and telescoping wheel as well as eight-speaker audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Auto climate control, heated front seats, and keyless entry are all included. Outside are body-colour door handles, projector lights, and 16-inch steel wheels. Standard driver assistance includes collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and forward collision warning.
EX adds dual-zone climate control and a leather-wrapped wheel along with remote start, proximity key entry, and power-adjust driver seat. It also has 16-inch alloys and a power moonroof and Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera.
Sport adds paddle-shift control of the CVT, aluminum trimmed pedals, and appearance additions including 18-inch alloys, center exhaust, rear spoiler, and fog lights.
Touring adds display audio with navigation, premium 10-speaker stereo, leather seats, wireless charging, chrome door handles, LED headlights, and rain sensing wipers.
Key Options
Honda doesn't have any options on Civic, just a choice of colours, which is more limited on lower trims.
Fuel Economy
Civic is estimated to return 7.9 L/100 km in the city and 6.1 highway with the 2.0L and 7.8/6.2 with the 1.5T.
Competition
Civic competes with the sportier but smaller Corolla, the well-equipped Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra, as well as the refined Mazda3.
